Library Talk - Alcohol-related disorder Added: 12 December 2005 CANCELLED Owing to unforeseen circumstances and pressures of legislation, this talk has now been cancelled . The talk will now be postponed until after the New Year.
The problems associated with public disorder and binge drinking, particularly in town centres, have attracted a lot of media attention and concern in constituencies in recent years, and a wide range of measures has been introduced to try to deal with them. This talk will look at some of the provisions which already exist, and some Government proposals. They include measures which penalise individual acts of anti-social, disorderly or violent behaviour, such as ASBOS and fixed penalty notices, as well as others which specifically target drunken misbehaviour. We will also be looking at measures aimed at tackling problems in particular neighbourhoods - for example through dispersal orders. The talk will last about 20 minutes, with time for questions afterwards. Although there is no formal requirement to register, it would be helpful if you could let the library know by 12 December 2005 if you are likely to attend. This will help the Library to gauge numbers. If you have any further queries please contact Marguerite Page on x 1182/1483 or Sandy Gill on x 0578. For more information about the talks in this series please see the Library's intranet pages. |
