SMOKING ON THE PARLIAMENTARY ESTATE

The estate will become smoke free from 1 July 2007.  Smoking will not be allowed in any internal areas including bars and private offices.  Smoking rooms will not be available.  Smoking will not be allowed in external areas, including roof terraces, courtyards and walkways, except for:

  • the Commons Terrace (subject to the normal rules of access)

  • Commons Court (North West corner, Commons Court)

  • North Terrace (between Portcullis House and Norman Shaw South)

  • a designated area on the west side of Canon Row courtyard.

Specified areas in:

  • Black Rod’s Garden

  • State Officers’ Court

  • Peers’ Inner Court.

  • Smoking will also be allowed in an area at the end of the Lords Terrace abutting the Commons Terrace (subject to the normal rules of access), but this will be subject to review.
