for a version which you can use with their new scales.


It's that time of year when MPs are reviewing staff salaries.  But how much can they afford to pay each member of staff?  How many staff can they afford to employ?

Many people don't realise that the staffing allowance has to cover the Employer's National Insurance Contributions, as well as the gross salary of each staff member.

In order to make it easier for MPs to work out what they can afford, the Resources Department has updated their 'Salary Ready Reckoner' on their intranet pages.

The Ready Reckoner is a simple spreadsheet, where you punch in the prospective salary amounts, and it will automatically work out the Employer's National Insurance Contributions and tell you how much you have left in the staffing allowance.
