House of Commons stationery orders

Added 5 March 2010

For those of you who haven't seen this recent information about your stationery orders, this message from Jo Pitt who has recently taken responsibility for the Banner stationery contract, was circulated to all staff on 2 March 2010.

I am writing to advise you of important information regarding the stationery contract and 2010 catalogue. I am pleased to advise you that prices for your stationery items will be held unchanged until agreement has been reached on the 2010 prices, which are currently being negotiated.  At that time, a new House of Commons Bespoke Stationery Catalogue will be issued.

Please note that for reasons of promoting environmental sustainability, the standard Banner catalogue will no longer be issued in hardcopy form. You can access the same products online at www.banner-online.biz, where you will also find the special discounted prices that apply to the House of Commons.

A number of users are still trying to contact the House of Commons Helpdesk at Banner on the old 0870 numbers. These were replaced with new dedicated telephone numbers in September 2009 and the new numbers are as follows:

  • Telephone Enquiries: 0845 226 7791

  • Fax Orders and Enquiries: 0845 226 7792

Responsibility for the management of the House-wide stationery contract has now been transferred from the Facilities Department (Accommodation Services Directorate) to Print Services (Deputy Deliverer of the Vote (Production) within the Vote Office, Department of Chamber & Committee Services.  Please contact: Jennifer Lee on 020 7219 0643 or Jo Pitt on 020 7219 0485.  Cliff Harris on 020 7219 2873 will continue, for the time being, to look after the Members bespoke accounts.

Bespoke Stationery Orders (Excessive/Multiple Orders)

Banner Business Services are contracted to hold between 2 – 3 months supplies to ensure that all normal stationery requests can be fulfilled.  In order to reduce the possibility of stock items running out and the consequent inconvenience to other Members, limits are set on the maximum quantities of certain bespoke stationery items permitted in any one order.  In addition, Banner are only authorised to process single orders for bespoke stationery and multiple orders cannot be accepted.  If for any reason you need to order more than the maximum permissible you should first contact the Banner Helpdesk on the number shown above to check stock availability.  If sufficient stock is not available it could take at least two weeks to fulfil the order.

Alternatively you might consider using alternative papers and envelopes.  For example the Xerox Ivory photocopier paper (Code 204 0927) makes a very good substitute for House of Commons headed paper and is much cheaper.  This could be overprinted in much the same way as bespoke papers to include the House of Commons logo.  Banner also has a large number of much cheaper alternative envelopes.  Since this paper and envelopes are normal Banner stock items there are no restrictions on the amounts that can be ordered.
