    Update17 August 2010

The House of Commons nursery opens to its first intake of children on 1 September. An open day is being held on 31 August between 8am – 6pm which anyone on the Parliamentary Estate can attend. Come and meet the staff who are running the nursery or come and see how the Bellamy’s Bar/Astor Suite area has been transformed into a modern and bright nursery facility.

Open to children aged three months to five years, the facility will offer a stimulating and secure environment that will ensure their personal educational development. Forty places are available for the children of Members, Members’ staff and House of Commons and PICT staff.

    Added 5 July 2010:

Work is currently well underway to provide a modern and suitably equipped nursery facility for up to 40 children in what was formerly the Bellamy’s bar/Astor Suite area of 1 Parliament Street. The nursery will be open to the children of Members, Members’ staff, House of Commons staff and PICT staff.

We expect the nursery to open in early September 2010. It will be operated by the London Early Years Foundation (LEYF - http://www.leyf.org.uk/home.php). Children aged up to 5 years old will be able to attend.

Click here to see general information leaflet (PDF 160KB) and here for an expression of interest form (PDF 1MB). If you have young children and you would like them to attend the nursery you need to complete and return this form by 15 July. Members will have priority in the waiting list. Rosanna Speight on x1592 (or in her absence, Andy Vallins on X4163) will be able to provide further information.

    Please note:
Registration of the Nursery with Ofsted will be required before the Nursery can begin operating. The House Service expects registration to be granted in August, but this cannot be guaranteed. This means that you should not give notice to any nursery provider you may be currently using or remove your child from the waiting list of any other nursery until such time as you receive written confirmation that your child has been allocated a place in the House of Commons Nursery.
