Looking for accommodation

Updated 14 March 2010

Finding accommodation in London is one of the hardest things for anyone working in Westminster – it’s probably an issue for many constituency workers too, but even Dante would admit that Central London occupies its own special circle of housing hell.

We have come across a few services and agencies that might help, although as ever just because we’re telling you about them doesn’t mean we endorse or in any way recommend them. If you know of other places people might want to turn to for help, please let us know by using the Feedback Form linked from the bottom of this page and we’ll add them to this far from exhaustive list. And if you use them - for good or ill - let us know.

Spareroom

To be found at www.spareroom.co.uk. "According to a HitWise custom category of 10 flatshare websites, SpareRoom.co.uk is the #1 Flatshare site in the UK - over 42% busier than our nearest competitor!"

Speedflatmating

Closely related to Spareroom, this one is at: www.speedflatmating.co.uk. They say: "There's always a small element of risk when going to a stranger's house or inviting someone into your home. Meeting prospective flatmates in a public place eliminates that risk. "

Easyroommate

At http://uk.easyroommate.com, this claims to be ‘One of the UK's leading rooms to rent websites. Currently listing more than 190000 available rooms across the UK’.

FlatmateClick

Another variation on the theme, you can find them at www.flatmateclick.co.uk - and they claim "we're revolutionizing the way people find flatmates. Whether you're looking for a flat, or have a flat to rent, FlatmateClick has solutions never seen before".
