List of Ministerial Responsibilities

Updated 14 April 2009

The information below is correct at the date of publication
but the List of Ministerial Responsibilities is updated frequently
so some details on this page will soon be out of date.

The latest revised version of the List of Ministerial Responsibilities was published in November 2008. Hard copies can be obtained from the Vote Office, or phone x3631 for a copy to be sent to your constituency office. You cannot do without it!

It is available online at: www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/ministerial_responsibilities.aspx.

This is an essential item for your computer bookmarks and/or your bookshelf as it lists exactly which Minister is responsible for every aspect of government.  For example, you want to know who's responsible for student loans?  An educated guess would take you to DIUS but you're not sure whose bag it is?  Check down the page and there it is, listed under David Lammy MP, Minister for Higher Education and Intellectual Property, together with details of his Private Office contacts.

If you can't track down a particular responsibility from the list, again try an educated guess and ring the private office who will point you to the right Minister. Don't be shy; they are there to help!

For up-to-date information, go to www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/ministerial_responsibilities.aspx.

Changes in government are reflected within days on this website. The site also lists the Ministerial and non-ministerial departments, Executive Agencies and Government Offices for the Regions.
