Initally a 6 month contract:
Policy Exchange is one of the UK’s most influential think-tanks. As a Research Fellow in our economics team you will have the opportunity to develop your career in a dynamic policy-making environment. In the past year our economics research has covered the reform of financial services, transport, pensions and welfare reform.
We are looking for someone with a strong command of financial economics and statistical analysis and, preferably, an in-depth understanding of the public finances to work in our economics unit.
As a member of the team you will also be required to work across our economics research programme working on projects on tax, manufacturing, public spending among other issues. Day-to-day, this means that you will be involved with macro and micro analyses of the issues in our other projects, generation of research ideas, fundraising and contact with policy-makers and the media.
To be a strong candidate, you must have:
A strong interest in and understanding of economic policy, which should be demonstrated by a good degree in economics or a related discipline, ideally at a postgraduate level.
Knowledge of contemporary politics.
Excellent writing skills, which we will ask you to demonstrate should you make it to the appointment short list.
A predisposition towards free market and localist policies.
