A confident, hardworking intern with a keen interest in economic issues is required to join Philip Hammond’s private office in Westminster. The role would suit a recent graduate or gap year student with a strong track record of academic success.
This position is a fantastic opportunity for those wishing to gain experience of working in Parliament for a member of the Shadow Cabinet. You will be involved in a range of activities, including:
Research and correspondence relating to the Treasury portfolio
Assisting Philip’s staff and liaising with the wider Shadow Treasury team
Constituency casework and correspondence
General office administration
Candidates should have the following:
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
Strong interpersonal skills
A good grasp of economics and/or statistics
IT literacy
Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure
Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision
An ideal candidate would be able to commit for a minimum of six months. You should be sympathetic to the views of the Conservative Party and have an active interest in British politics.
