Details A confident, hardworking intern with a keen interest in economic issues is required to join Philip Hammond’s private office in Westminster. The role would suit a recent graduate or gap year student with a strong track record of academic success.

This position is a fantastic opportunity for those wishing to gain experience of working in Parliament for a member of the Shadow Cabinet. You will be involved in a range of activities, including:

  • Research and correspondence relating to the Treasury portfolio
  • Assisting Philip’s staff and liaising with the wider Shadow Treasury team
  • Constituency casework and correspondence
  • General office administration

    Candidates should have the following:

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A good grasp of economics and/or statistics
  • IT literacy
  • Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision

    An ideal candidate would be able to commit for a minimum of six months. You should be sympathetic to the views of the Conservative Party and have an active interest in British politics.
