w4mp jobs - The new system is due back soon

We launched our new jobs site on Monday 8 August and would like to thank all those who tested out the new system earlier in the year and revealed to us that we needed a bigger server. We are grateful for your tolerance.

The new system makes it a lot easier to submit ads - which remain free - and simplify the administration at our end.

The new site is at a separate URL - http://www.w4mpjobs.org/ - but you will still be able to see all the job adverts on the old system.

Here are some of the improvements we have built in:

  • New WYSIWYG form, enabling you to submit the text as you want it to appear in the ad (see example below).

  • Ability to preview and amend your ad as well as print a copy before you submit it to us for publishing.

  • Calendar to select the closing date.

  • Location of the post advertised is either 'London' or a  named pace elsewhere, allowing search by location.

  • Ability to distinguish between, and search for, posts which pay above or below National Minimum Wage.

  • A re-CAPTCHA element for you to complete which will protect us from receiving mounds of spam ads.

  • RSS feed facility for job seekers.

  • A more robust server which should cope with around 20,000 of you who access our Jobs pages every day.

Thanks to all those of you who have suggested which improvements you would like to see.  We reckon we’ve implemented most of them. No doubt there will be some fine adjustments still to be made and we are always open to suggestions for further improvement; use the feedback form below.

Special thanks to Erik Zimmerman who has done the technical side of the new system.
