Seeing that there was no network of Conservative staffers when we first started working at Westminster was a bit of a disappointment; something that my colleague, Michelle Barro and I hope to remedy. Whilst no one wants their place of work to become the only place they play, it does help to know people, and sometimes it’s good to put a face to the voice on the end of a phone line.

So, we’re setting up an alliance of our own, and why not, Labour and Lib Dem staffers already benefit from one, so it’s about time we all did too.

Consta has been founded to enrich your experience of working at Westminster and facilitate regular networking amongst Conservative staff members.

To do this there are three areas we’re going to be involved in:

  1. Social: We’ll be planning several events over the next few months where you’ll be guaranteed to meet other Conservative staff members. The first of these will take place once Bellamy’s has reopened for business when the House returns on 6th October. Given the physically segregated way most of us work (Palace basement residents excluded) it can be hard to find the right opportunity to meet other Conservatives at Westminster, so come along!
  2. Political: For those interested, we’ll be hosting a series of debate forums, which will hopefully attract the interest of those from the Labour Staff Network and Liberal Democrats Staff Group. These will be subject to Chatham House rules and the format will be based loosely on that used by the Canning Club.
  3. Employment: We’ll be maintaining a list of those who leave Westminster and are happy for their details to be retained so they can benefit from our alumni network. In addition, we hope to develop training programmes and induction advice for you to benefit from, or pass on to new staffers.

Once we've got some more details about our forthcoming events these will be added to this page.

If you'd like to be added to our mailing list, please contact Cameron Penny.
