Immigration Law

Who is it for?

This course has been designed specifically for staff working for Members who deal with immigration casework.

Objectives

  • Understand the structures of immigration control and appeals

  • Understand the main documents possessed by immigrants

  • Be aware of the most frequent types of application

  • Know when and how MPs can intervene

  • Know when and how to get further advice

  • Be aware of how to diagnose, at least in broad terms, the type of immigration problem

  • Identify, in broad terms, the stage the case has reached Identify where the matter is urgent

  • Determine whether adequate help and support is in place, and the information necessary to make an effective referral

  • Where it is necessary/desirable for an MP to intervene, make an intervention that is effective and to the point
