2013 Speakers School Council Awards now open.

Closing date 30 April 2013.

Run by Parliament’s Education Service on behalf of the Speaker, the Speaker’s School Council Awards scheme celebrates excellence in school councils.

Open to every infant, primary and secondary school in the UK, the awards ask school councils to nominate their most successful project. Projects can be big or small; what matters most is that they have made a difference to the school or community.

It’s a great opportunity for school councils to celebrate their successes, shout out loud about their achievements and enhance student voice opportunities in school.

Entering is easy. Schools simply fill in an online application at www.speakersschoolcouncil.org.

Researcher/Caseworker of the Year awards – Have you nominated yet?

Nominations for the Dods Parliamentary Researcher of the Year Awards in association with the Federation of Small Businesses – now in its seventh year – will close on 23 January.  

It you haven’t already nominated – do it NOW!

The Awards are open to all staff working in a research or casework capacity for an MP or a Peer from parliamentary or constituency offices. The Awards have been developed to promote the extremely valuable role played by all individuals working for parliamentarians.

Reform in the House of Lords Open Lecture – spaces still available!

Friday 25th January, 2.00-3.30pm at the University of East Anglia, Norwich.

There are still spaces available for the Open Lecture “Reform in the House of Lords – ending the deadlock”.

Baroness Hayman, the former Lord Speaker, will deliver an Open Lecture at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.  This free event is open to all higher education staff and students from colleges and universities across the UK, so please pass this invitation on to colleagues and students within your institution.

Baroness Hayman will speak about change in the House of Lords, considering both the past and the future.  There will be an opportunity for questions after the lecture.

Changes to the e-tabling system

From the evening of Wednesday 9 January you will see some changes to the online system used for submitting parliamentary questions electronically to the Table Office.
