ROUNDERS

Summer recess 2006 is fast approaching and the rounders season is nearly upon us!

In readiness, plans are afoot for the third annual Inter-Party Parliamentary Staff Rounders Tournament, generously sponsored once again by Edelman Public Affairs, to be held on the afternoon of Thursday 3rd August 2006.

As the defending champions the Lib Dems will be keen to retain their title, but more importantly it will be a great afternoon, followed by post-match drinks provided by Edelman at a local pub. Last year 60 researchers joined the game and drinks and we are hoping for a bigger turn out this year. Each party can submit a team to the competition. Labour won two years ago, LibDems last year - can the Tories win this year?

If you are interested, or would like more information, please contact Aimee Parnell, parnella@parliament.uk or extension 2588

Village Drinks

Village Drinks is the social group for gay, lesbian, and bisexual professionals working in political, financial and legal industries. The group is open to anyone who wants to visit the West End of London to meet like minded professionals. We hold monthly events at some of London's most exclusive venues. For each event we select a sophisticated, elegant, and exclusive venue for a relaxing environment that facilitates conversation and guarantees a good time. When you arrive, you will be greeted and welcomed by our staff, who will happily introduce you to others. Guests will usually chat lightly by the bar for the first part of the evening; then, as the night darkens, the mood changes to a more upbeat atmosphere with a helping hand from our live DJs. Our guests make the night what it is; a chance to socialise with professionals from the “Westminster Village”, MPs, parliamentary researchers, civil servants, political consultants, journalists, members of think-tanks and quangos, lawyers, investment bankers. And it’s a great opportunity to “live in colour” by forging new business links with other gay professionals and, importantly, by making new friends.
